The Return of Chefs of the Future

Thursday the 7th of March marked the triumphant return of the annual “Chefs of the Future” event, a culinary extravaganza presented in collaboration with STEP, Forth Valley College, and Forth Valley Food and Drink Network. After a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this cherished tradition once again graced the local scene, bringing together aspiring chefs, industry professionals, and community supporters for an unforgettable evening of gastronomic delight as a new generation of hospitality professionals delivered a first-class meal and impeccable service.

Since its inception in 2015, the “Chefs of the Future” event has been a beacon of talent and innovation, showcasing the culinary skills of Forth Valley College’s hospitality students while forging meaningful connections within the Stirling food and drink industry. With the unwavering support of local businesses and community members, this event has become a cornerstone of the culinary calendar, eagerly anticipated by all who appreciate fine dining and local talent. Stacey Spence from Forth Valley Food and Drink Network said “Seeing the passion of our local hospitality students and the steadfast support from our partners and community has been truly uplifting. As Forth Valley’s regional food group, we’re dedicated to nurturing the growth and sustainability of our local food and drink scene. We take great pride in our involvement in this effort and eagerly anticipate continuing to champion and celebrate the next generation of chefs and hospitality professionals.”

This year’s gathering was no exception, as local restaurants joined as honoured guests to indulge in a delicious three-course meal expertly prepared by the talented students of Forth Valley College. From canapes to desserts, each dish was a testament to the students’ dedication, creativity, and culinary prowess. “The ‘Chefs of the Future’ event was a remarkable testament to the resilience and talent within our culinary community. The dedication and creativity displayed by the students of Forth Valley College were nothing short of extraordinary. Together, we are nurturing the next generation of chefs and hospitality professionals, ensuring a vibrant and thriving future for our students.” remarked Karyn King, Operations Manager for Forth Valley College.

Marketing and Business Development Director at STEP said, “I’m delighted to have been part of the Chefs of the Future event. It was wonderful to see the event back post-COVID and reconnect with so many incredible hospitality businesses in the area. The mission to showcase the amazing talent at Forth Valley College is truly inspiring, and we’re lucky to have such a resource on our doorstep. A massive thanks to the talented students who looked after us, both front and back of house. I can’t wait to start planning for next year’s event.” 

Beyond its culinary offerings, the “Chefs of the Future” event serves a larger purpose: to promote employment opportunities for the next generation of chefs within the local hospitality sector.
