Supporting businesses for over 4 decades

When we started in 1983 we wanted to build more than just an office block, business park or commercial property.

We wanted to build a community of businesses where companies could start, grow and lean on each other in a supportive environment.

Unlike other landlords, we use what profit we have to offer additional services at competitive prices to help businesses in Central Scotland grow.

Who we are

We are Central Scotland’s business support organisation and have been working with SMEs in Scotland since 1983.

What we do

We help SMEs to succeed with various services from Property to HR and more.

Why we are

Our goal is to ‘help grow enterprise in Scotland’ by offering low-cost business premises, with the unique concept of additional business support and other services on the doorstep. Read more about ‘Our Aim’ here.

Where we are

Our Head Office is located at our site Stirling Enterprise Park, Stirling, FK7 7RP.

We support businesses throughout Scotland and we have HR clients further afield.

We're Unique

At STEP, we don’t just support businesses — we were built for them.

Founded over 40 years ago in direct response to industrial decline in the Stirling area, STEP was created to do something different: to protect local jobs, help businesses survive tough times, and give entrepreneurs the tools they needed to rebuild and grow.

We were one of the first organisations of our kind in Scotland. Born out of necessity, powered by community, and shaped by the businesses we serve — our roots are in Stirling, but our reach is far wider.

STEP was formed at a time when Stirling’s economy was undergoing massive change. As traditional industries faded, there was a real need for bold thinking and local action.

Our purpose was clear:
To help businesses start, adapt, and grow — and in doing so, protect and create sustainable jobs for the people of Stirling.

That mission still drives us today.

We’re not a landlord. We’re not a government department.
We’re a not-for-profit economic development organisation — which means every penny we earn is reinvested into supporting local business.

Our buildings, our services, our support – they all exist because of our deep commitment to Stirling and its people. We work side by side with our tenants and clients, not just as advisers or landlords, but as part of their team.

We know what it’s like to start from scratch. We know what it means to take a risk. And we know that when businesses succeed, communities thrive.
