Our Aim
Supporting businesses for over three decades.
When we started in 1983, we wanted to build more than just an office block, more than a business park, more than other business support organisations we wanted to be unique and to make an impact. We wanted to not only build a community of businesses where companies could start, grow and lean on each other in a supportive environment, having ambitions to make Stirling the place to do business.
We aim to build on what has made us so successful since 1983.
Mission, vision and values
Empowering and Inspiring Businesses to Shape a Successful Stirling
Since our inception in 1983, our vision extended beyond constructing a business park – a spirit that continues to guide us.
Our mission is clear: to empower and inspire businesses to shape a thriving Stirling.
By providing a unique, resilient and inspiring business support with a twist. We will grow our business every year, and in turn our local economy, by building an ecosystem where businesses can start, grow and scale in a supportive, innovative and sustainable environment. All whilst investing 100% of profits into activity designed to grow the local and regional economy.
This mission ensures that every decision we make, benefits our businesses, communities, team, and our local area. Because if Stirling is successful, so are we.
We’re driven by a powerful commitment: to channel all our profits into projects that boost the local economy.
Our services span three key areas:
– Business Spaces: Providing not just spaces, but vibrant environments for businesses to grow.
– Business Support: Guiding businesses with practical help and nurturing support.
– HR Support: Focusing on people, offering tailored advice, organisational strategies and coaching.
Our purpose is clear: Business Wealth Building.
By empowering businesses, we set off a chain reaction of prosperity that positively impacts our community, fostering economic growth for the long haul.
We will become Scotland’s leader of unique, inspiring business support and high-quality spaces that has the biggest impact on the economy.
For us, “unique” is an attitude, an approach to how we do things. We naturally look at things differently, taking a fresh perspective on situations, exploring whether there are better ways of delivering solutions to the challenges businesses face in today’s rapidly changing landscape.
Our values make us STEP UP.
We are Supportive
We are Team players
We are Exciting
We are Professional
We are Unique
We are Pioneers
Fair work is work that offers all individuals an effective voice, opportunity, job security, fulfilment and respect. It balances the rights and responsibilities of employers and workers and generates benefits for individuals, organisations and society.
Embedding these principles into STEP and using them as pillars for everything we do will ensure as we grow our team grows with us and we remain ‘one team’.
Effective voice is much more than just having a channel of communication available – though this is important. Effective voice ensures a safe environment where dialogue and challenges are dealt with constructively and where employee views are sought out, listened to and can make a difference.
Opportunity is more than the chance to access work. Real opportunity can be supported in a variety of different ways: through recruitment and selection procedures, internship arrangements, training and development approaches and promotion and progression procedures and practices.
Job Security plays an important role in behaviours and attitudes and therefore can generate important benefits. Where people feel secure, this can increase their willingness to adapt and change, their level of commitment and to go the ‘going the extra mile’. It also has a significant impact of employer-employee trust.
Job Fulfilment can be an important source of job satisfaction and the basis for employee commitment. Fulfilling work is also associated with better health and well-being. Fulfilling work also provides the basis for people to go beyond what is required of them. It encourages creativity and innovation and can unleash the talents and capabilities that generate benefits for their employers through better performance, quality and responsiveness.
Respect involves recognising others as dignified human beings and recognising their standing and personal worth. At its most basic, respect involves ensuring the health, safety and well-being of others. Respect as a dimension of fair work includes and goes beyond this to include dignified treatment, social support and the development of trusting relationships.
