Stirling Council is delighted to announce the appointment of Caroline Sinclair as its new Chief Executive.
Caroline, who is currently Chief Officer of East Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership, will take up the role this summer.
She succeeds Carol Beattie, who announced in March that she was standing down from the role after almost six years.
Caroline brings a wealth of experience in local government and the public sector spanning more than 20 years.
She has spent the past six years at East Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership, firstly as Head of Service before being appointed Chief Officer in January 2020.
Prior to this, Caroline spent 15 years with Orkney Islands Council, working in a wide variety of social care service roles, including nearly three years as Chief Officer of Orkney Health and Care Partnership.
Caroline was appointed following a competitive selection process, overseen by a cross-party panel of councillors.
Caroline said: “It’s a huge privilege to have the opportunity to lead Stirling Council. I can’t wait to get started in this hugely exciting role and meet our staff and partners.
“Stirling is at the heart of Scotland’s story and is steeped in history, heritage and culture. It’s an area bursting with innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit; a place of outstanding natural beauty and diverse, vibrant communities. I know I will soon fall in love with this remarkable place and its people.
“I’m acutely aware of the major challenges facing local authorities and our residents, but I strongly believe we can overcome these issues by working together with our communities, partners and other key stakeholders.
“This spirit of collaboration will also be key to unlocking the significant opportunities for Stirling and the wider region through the likes of the City Region Deal, so we can deliver high-quality jobs, inward investment and inclusive economic growth.
“I look forward to working hard with all my new colleagues, councillors and communities to build on the great work before me and ensure Stirling thrives and is an excellent place to live, work and study.”
Brian Roberts, Chief Operating Officer Infrastructure & Environment, will take up the post of Interim Chief Executive until Caroline is in post.
David Miller, Managing Director of STEP, Stirling’s business support organisation which delivers Business Gateway services in Stirling on behalf of Stirling Council, said, “We look forward to working with Caroline to foster a robust and thriving business community in Stirling.
