Tradstocks employ 44 staff working in construction, admin and office support roles. When the company contacted STEP regarding HR services one of their main challenges were staff sickness, they needed to find a way to reduce and control the absence levels they were experiencing. STEP HR brought in processes and systems to tackle absences which have seen absence rates reduce significantly and quickly which has led to making significant financial savings. It has also had a positive impact on the culture in the organisation.
What was done
STEP HR developed an effective sickness absence management programme, which addressed absences directly whilst supporting employees and business needs. Responsibility was allocated and process were introduced to assist with reporting. Due to procedures being put in place absences are dealt with consistently and timely which in turn reduce the chances of them becoming more serious or for longer periods of time. Through initial training and ongoing support from the team at STEP we are now able to effectively manage our absence which has significantly reduced our absence rates at Tradstocks. – Peter Stewart, Director, Tradstocks
