Stirling Community Lottery Celebrates 2nd Anniversary with Over £30,000 Raised per year for Local Causes

This week marks the second anniversary of the Stirling Community Lottery, an initiative launched in 2021 amidst the fundraising challenges of the pandemic. Since its inception, the lottery has seen tremendous success, welcoming 55 local organisations, 1181 supporters and raising over £30,000 annually for local good causes.

Managed by Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise, the lottery enters its third year with the mission to strengthen the local community and provide essential funding for a diverse range of causes. From local charities and sports clubs to community projects and social enterprises, the lottery offers a simple digital platform for fundraising. Community members can support causes of their choice, all while having the chance to win cash prizes. As a Stirlingshire organisation, community group, or social enterprise, joining the Stirling Community Lottery is both free and easy.

This year the lottery has seen several cash winners. One success story came from Fallin Community Voice, a membership-based charity formed in January 2022. Despite its recent inception, the charity has rapidly grown, hosting events such as Bingo Nights, Easter and Summer Fun Days, and a Christmas Lights Switch On. Fallin Community Voice has formed valuable partnerships, including with the Community Council, to host weekly Grub Hub Nights. The charity is also working diligently to transform residents’ dreams of having a community garden into reality. Since joining the Stirling Community Lottery earlier this year, Fallin Community Voice has well exceeded its fundraising target.

Neil Taylor, Chair of Fallin Community Voice, expressed his satisfaction with the lottery’s impact on their organisation:

“I set up the lottery to bring in additional unrestricted funds for the charity as well as raise its profile. The money raised will go towards the ongoing Christmas Lights costs as well as the day-to-day running of the charity. It really gives us a great funding stream as well as some community involvement in terms of helping out and a chance of winning some money. Indeed, the £250 win was great for one of our supporters!”

Gillian, a local resident of Fallin, was the lucky winner of a £250 cash prize. She highlighted the significance of the lottery’s community-centric approach:

“I’d definitely say to anyone thinking of playing it’s worth it. It’s a good feeling to support a good local cause with the money raised supporting the local community as well as raising funds for some great charities. It’s quite affordable too even in this financial climate.”
