As a part of my duke of Edinburgh bronze award, I carried out three months of work experience at STEP. My goal was to learn employment skills that will support me in future employment.
I feel I have reached this goal that I set myself to achieve and STEP supported me by having a schedule in place which allowed me to gain experience across a range of job roles within the company.
Some of the skills I have learned are communication skills, team working skills, working independently, listening and following instructions and problem-solving.
I particularly liked a few of the jobs in departments such as IT, Maintenance and Reception. These jobs were very interesting and I enjoyed doing them.
Overall I have enjoyed my time at STEP, the staff were nice and welcoming and this was a good experience to have to help me in the future when I leave school.
