Businesses across the Stirling region are placing greater emphasis on employee health and wellbeing, recognising the clear link between a supported workforce and improved productivity, engagement and retention.
In response to this growing demand, STEP has partnered with Active Stirling to launch Taking an Active STEP, a new initiative designed to help employers take practical, meaningful action to support the physical and mental wellbeing of their teams.
The programme brings together STEP’s expertise in HR and business support with Active Stirling’s extensive health and fitness offering. Active Stirling’s ongoing refurbishment of The PEAK has doubled the size of the current gym and introduced two brand new, purpose-built studios for group fitness. The opening of these new facilities in Spring will further enhance the amenities available to participating organisations.
Through the programme, employers can provide their teams with access to a wide range of wellbeing benefits, with no direct cost to the business. This includes discounted Active Stirling membership for employees, offering access to gym facilities, swimming pools, unlimited fitness classes at The PEAK, Raploch Campus and community venues, on-demand home workouts, body composition appointments and wellness facilities such as sauna and steam rooms. Employees of participating organisations can access membership at a discounted rate of £31.50 per month or £370 annually.
Alongside the physical health benefits, STEP’s HR team will deliver a tailored wellbeing support package for participating organisations. This includes an annual employee wellbeing check, combining a short survey, a 15-minute conversation with a STEP HR Consultant and a tailored summary report with practical, achievable recommendations, delivered to a representative from each organisation. This light-touch approach ensures employers gain valuable insight into workforce wellbeing, enabling them to make informed improvements that have a lasting impact on the workforce.
Participating organisations will also receive a Taking an Active STEP digital badge, demonstrating their commitment to employee wellbeing and helping to strengthen their employer brand across digital platforms and recruitment activity.
The initiative represents a strong collaborative approach between STEP and Active Stirling, combining business insight with community health provision to create a programme that delivers real value for both employers and employees.
To mark the launch, STEP and Active Stirling are hosting a free launch event on 11 May 2026 from 10am to 12pm at The PEAK. The event will give employers the opportunity to find out more about the programme, explore the facilities through a guided tour of the newly expanded and renovated facilities and be among the first to receive a guided tour of the upgraded space, and take part in optional gym taster sessions to experience the benefits first-hand.
We’re encouraging local employers to come along to the launch event or register their interest and be part of Taking an Active STEP.
