Welcome to TALK 13

We have been welcoming new staff here at STEP over the last few months and I am delighted to introduce you to Business Adviser Simon Orr, who started with us in March. Simon joins us from the banking industry and as such has put together his funding tips for business on page 4. We have also recently welcomed Business Adviser Alan Porteous to the team.

The world of business is ever-changing and Vicky Murphy, our HR Manager discusses this in relation to HR on page 8. We will also focus on this topic at our all-new Stirling Tourism Month with a whole event dedicated to Tourism technology which you can read about on page 14.

Thinking of starting your own business but don’t know where to start? Business Gateway Stirling has put together seven steps to get you started on page 16.

The first six months of this year have certainly been busy and we have already supported over 1,000 businesses in starting up, growing, hiring staff, finding premises and more. You can see a snapshot of our first six-months figures on our STEP in numbers page.

I hope to see you at our upcoming Tourism Business Month. If there is anything in the meantime, as always please get in touch.

Best Wishes,
Gordon Bell,
Chief Executive, STEP
