Youngsters will have the chance to spot Hallowe’en witches and ghouls in shops and cafes across Stirling next week as part of a spooky competition.

Go Forth Stirling, which runs the city’s Business Improvement District, is launching a Hallowe’en Trail with an iPad on offer for the contest winner.

Twelve Stirling businesses, ranging from the Vue Cinema in Forthside to the Albert Halls in Dumbarton Road, are taking part in the Trail and will feature Hallowe’en creatures in their shop windows.

Families can pick up a leaflet featuring a map of the Hallowe’en Trail and record details of all the spooky symbols they spot at the various shops.

The initiative, which runs from Monday October 14 until Sunday November 3, is aimed at encouraging shoppers to visit a variety of different retailers around Stirling and enjoy some Hallowe’en fun.

Family business The Pend Café and Deli in Port Street is one of the retailers taking part in the Hallowe’en Trail.

Leanne Wilson, who helps her parents Irene and Geoff Williams run the café, is looking forward to getting involved.

She said: “Here at The Pend we love Hallowe’en and the feeling it invokes with the cold air and spooky dangers lurking around every corner.

“We are delighted to be part of the BID’s Hallowe’en Trail; it’s a great idea and we hope everyone involved has a Spooktacular time!”

The Halloween Trail is supporting Stirling Council’s new Hallowe’en

Lantern Parade which takes place from 5.30pm on Saturday November 2.

The Parade brings to a close a fortnight of spooky Hallowe’en events and will wind its way from the city centre to Broad Street in the historic old town with some surprises along the way.

Go Forth Stirling’s popular Landtrain will be at the head of the Parade and will be Hallowe’en- themed – featuring witches and ghosts – for the occasion.

Go Forth Stirling Manager Mags Fenner said: “We’re excited to be involved in this year’s Hallowe’en Festival and to work in partnership with Stirling Council supporting this initiative.

“Our Hallowe’en Trail offers families some fun and gives them the chance to get out and visit all the amazing shops we have in Stirling during the October school holiday week and the run up to Hallowe’en.

“The businesses taking part cover the whole of the BID area and the Trail provides a great opportunity for our shops and cafes to be part of a fun initiative and benefit from extra footfall around Stirling.

“The Lantern Parade is also a fantastic opportunity to bring extra people into Stirling and help the city’s retailers thrive.

“It will be a great night for the city and I’m looking forward to seeing the Go Forth Landtrain all dressed up for Hallowe’en!”

Hallowe’en Trail maps will be available in the Thistles and Stirling Arcade where there will also be Post Boxes for completed entries.

The winner of the Hallowe’en Trail, who will be drawn at random from all correctly completed entries, will receive an iPad.
