This January a programme of practical digital support has been launched across Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire to encourage tourism businesses to boost their online presence.
Led by Digital Tourism Scotland (DTS) – the programme offers a series of hands-on workshops providing a comprehensive beginners guide to digital trends, website development, social media, online marketing and managing online visitor feedback. This January the programme will be launched with a free Digital Technologies Update open to all tourism businesses in the area.
Working in partnership with Business Gateway, the Scottish Government, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Scottish Enterprise, Scottish Tourism Alliance, Skills Development Scotland, and VisitScotland – Digital Tourism Scotland works with businesses from the country’s tourism sector, helping to make them more competitive, more productive and boosting visitor numbers.
These courses provide essential support for businesses looking to engage with customers in new ways, identify which channels will deliver the best return for their business and how to enhance the customers’ online experience.
Geoff Morrison, Destination Manager at Destination Stirling, said: “This is truly a valuable opportunity for our tourism businesses to maximise their own skills and competitiveness in an increasingly digital world.”
VisitScotland Regional Partnerships Director, Liz Buchanan MBE, said: “Consumers’ habits and expectations have changed dramatically – these days visitors expect to use digital tools to communicate with both destinations and businesses. Consequently, Scottish tourism is undergoing a digital evolution and the focus of our marketing and customer engagement strategies reflects the massive importance of online content and social media platforms. The excellent DTS support programme is a fantastic opportunity for businesses across the Forth Valley to find out how they can exploit digital technologies to become more successful and maximise their full potential.”
