Today (12th March 2025) STEP proudly celebrates Winifred Forsyth’s 40th work anniversary, marking a remarkable career journey that has seen her grow and adapt alongside the organisation itself. It’s a rare achievement in today’s fast-moving world and one that deserves recognition.
For four decades, Winifred Forsyth has been at the heart of STEP, bringing dedication and a whole lot of wisdom to the team.
Winifred’s journey with STEP began in 1985 when she joined as a Company PA. Fresh-faced and eager to learn, she quickly made an impression with her can-do attitude and keen eye for detail. From those early days, she moved into a secretarial role, becoming the go-to person for keeping things running smoothly. Today as a Finance Assistant, Winifred plays a key role in making sure the numbers add up and everything behind the scene stays on track.
Over the years, she’s seen STEP evolve, from its early beginnings to the thriving business support organisation it is today. When she started, STEP had just three staff members – now, there are 32. Back then, there were only 12 tenants, compared to the 131 thriving businesses based across the now five STEP locations today. She’s seen the Stirling Enterprise Park site expand from 12 units to an impressive 213 and watched as STEP HR was formed, growing from zero clients to now supporting over 70 businesses.
Few can say they’ve had such a front-row seat to such transformation and even fewer have played such a key part in making it happen.
She’s watched industries change, technology transform the way we work, and countless businesses grow. Through it all, Winifred has remained a steady, reassuring presence – someone her colleagues know they can count on.
There isn’t much about STEP that Winifred doesn’t know—she’s the ultimate go-to person for any information, past or present. Her fellow STEP team members describe her as the backbone of the office, a constant presence who has been woven into the very fabric of STEP, full of knowledge and experience.
Reflecting on her time at STEP, Winifred said:
“I never expected to still be here 40 years later but STEP has always felt like home. I’ve worked with some amazing people over the years, and I love that I’ve been able to play a small part in helping businesses along the way.”
