You’ve thought of an idea, manufactured it, created the service, got a website and are ready to sell but what now?!
When starting a new business, one of the most challenging things can be launching your first marketing campaign. With so many options and tools available, it can be overwhelming to know where to begin. But now with the help of AI-powered tools, creating your first successful marketing campaign can be easier than ever—and not that scary—I promise!
I’m going to walk through the steps of creating a marketing campaign from start to finish, using AI-powered tools to streamline the process and achieve your business goals.
Step 1: Define Your Goals
The first step to any successful marketing campaign is to identify the purpose of your campaign. Now I don’t mean—I want to make some sales, these goals need to be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely). Are you trying to increase brand awareness, drive traffic to your website, or boost sales? Be specific! For example, if you are a T-Shirt company your goal might be to achieve 100 sales by the end of the year.
AI tools like Chat GPT can help you set SMART goals by inputting a prompt with your key goal For example “Set me a SMART Goal for my T-shirt involving an increase of sales”.
Remember, the more specific your goals are, the easier it will be to measure your success.
Action: Write down your goals and make sure they are specific and measurable.
Step 2: Identify Your Target Audience
Knowing your target audience is key to creating a successful campaign. When identifying your target market you should consider demographics, psychographics, geographic location, behaviors, and needs/pain points of potential customers.
If you have already started trading and have consumer data you can use tools like Google Analytics and Social Media insights to gain a good understanding of your target audience. However if your business is brand new it can be difficult to understand your target market and often new business owners simply guess based on biases, preferences and gut instinct. There are many AI tools that can help pre-trading to help you identify your target market but one of my favourite systems to use is Acorn CACI.
Acorn CACI is a customer classification system that uses geodemographic segmentation to classify people into different groups based on their location and demographic characteristics. This system is designed to help businesses understand their target audience and create targeted marketing campaigns.
Acorn CACI can help you identify your target audience by providing information about their location, household income, lifestyle, and behavior. This information can help you create a detailed profile of your ideal customer, which can then be used to create targeted marketing campaigns and content.
For example, if you’re starting a business that sells luxury goods, you might use Acorn CACI to identify neighbourhoods with high household incomes and a high proportion of residents who are interested in luxury brands. This information can then be used to create targeted advertising campaigns in those neighbourhood.
Acorn CACI is often used in combination with other AI tools, such as Facebook Audience Insights and Google Analytics, to create a comprehensive understanding of a business’s target audience. By using these tools together, you can create a detailed profile of your ideal customer and create targeted marketing campaigns that resonate with them.
Action: Use Acorn CACI or/along with similar tools to identify your target audience and write down a summary of this market.
Step 3: Create Your Content
Visuals and copy are the heart of any marketing campaign. Luckily, there are plenty of AI-powered design and content creation tools available. Use tools like Canva, Adobe Spark or Figma to create visually appealing graphics and videos. Use AI-powered content creation tools like Copy.ai and ChatGPT to generate content ideas and write ad copy. And finally, use AI-powered copy editing tools like Grammarly or Hemingway to ensure your content is error-free and easy to read.
Action: Use AI-powered design and content creation tools to create your ad content.
Step 4: Choose Your Channels
Choosing the right channels to promote your campaign is crucial. Options include social media, email marketing and paid advertising. Use social media management tools like Hootsuite or Sprout Social to track your social media posts. Use email marketing tools like Mailchimp or Constant Contact to automate your email campaigns. You may want to revisit your Target Market and use AI-powered tools like Acorn CACI and ChatGPT to understand their preferred platforms and how they consume marketing.
Action: Choose your channels and set up your social media, email, paid for or other marketing campaigns.
Step 5: Launch Your Campaign
Marketing automation tools like Power Automate, HubSpot or Salesforce can help you launch and track your marketing campaigns. For paid advertising, leverage advertising platforms like AdRoll or Google Ads to manage your campaigns.
Action: Launch your marketing campaign on your chosen channels.
Step 6: Analyse Your Results
Analysing your campaign results is critical to understanding what worked and what didn’t. Use AI-powered analytics tools like Google Analytics or Mixpanel to track website traffic and conversions. Utilise social media analytics tools like Sprout Social, Buffer or Hootsuite Insights to track engagement and reach on social media.
Action: Analyse your campaign results and make adjustments for future campaigns.
By following these steps and leveraging AI-powered tools, small business owners can create successful marketing campaigns that achieve their goals and drive growth. So, what are you waiting for? Get started today and don’t forget to share your success stories with us!
