“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see” – Edgar Degas, Artist
Established in 1993 and based in Alloa, we are Reachout With Arts In Mind, an innovative and inclusive award-winning charity using the expressive arts to educate and maintain the wellbeing of local communities experiencing life’s challenges, mental ill health and or disability.
Our bright, fully equipped arts studio is a safe and friendly environment, which offers a wide range of creative and self-help opportunities for local people to take part in workshops facilitated by our team of professional artists and crafts people. At Reachout, we aim to reduce isolation, and provide a structured day for our community where they can meet new people, discover hidden talent, and have fun!
As a small, independent charity reliant on grant funding, we are always on the lookout for volunteers and individuals who would like to get involved, and witness the transformative powers being creative can have on individuals. One of our volunteers, Clare, has very generously shared her volunteering experience with us:
‘My initial involvement with Reachout helped me enormously, I knew volunteering would not only be a good experience for me and my career, but also for my own mental health. I think feeling part of a community, having somewhere to go to, and helping others has been so beneficial for my own healing.
I look forward to the two afternoons I help at Reachout and I’m always greeted with a warm welcome. I enjoy spending time with the members and staff, helping where I can, and seeing what they have created, I then go home after a session feeling a sense of achievement.’
We are always on the lookout for dedicated volunteers! While we often have volunteer roles identified we are completely flexible and happy to chat with anyone who may be interested in volunteering to find out what best suits you.
