We’re on a journey to create the best business support for the Forth Valley area and make Central Scotland the number one place to do business in the UK – help us get there!
Are you interested in helping the Stirling and Forth Valley economy grow and are passionate about local business? Are you a true networker, an inspiring leader, have a history of creating and delivering on new projects and have excellent organisational skills?
If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.
We are looking for a Business Support Manager to join our Management Team. The team is responsible amongst other things for helping local businesses to meet the challenges of the current economic climate and this role will provide support to the team as we design, deliver and commission a variety of business support programmes.
STEP has been supporting businesses for over three decades. When we started in 1983, we wanted to build more than just an office block, business park or commercial property. We wanted to build a community of businesses where companies could start, grow, and lean on each other in a supportive environment.
Today we support 3,000 businesses on average per year and manage over 200 spaces across 5 sites.
All our profits are invested back into business support activities and delivering services that have a positive impact on the local economy.
On behalf of the Scottish Government, we deliver the contract for Business Gateway services across Stirling and contract for other public-funded contracts when relevant.
What you’ll do at STEP
The Business Support Manager is the central point of contact for business support across Stirling and is responsible for managing a range of high-quality business support to small and medium-sized businesses at all stages of their journey.
You will support the team in several ways to help us create, deliver and monitor the progress of various business support projects. This will include data management and reporting, as well as contract management and leading the business support team. You will also be responsible to help design, deliver, report and commission future projects.
Who we are looking for
We are a close-knit, driven team that cares deeply about delivering the best business support in the Forth Valley area, so flexibility and ability to grasp new concepts are key. You don’t necessarily need a background in Business Support – if you’re quick to learn we can get you up to speed on the area of work. What is most important is the right attitude and the key abilities as set out below:
- Superb organisational skills, being able to keep multiple projects on track at one time, the experience of managing and leading projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, the willingness to work cooperatively in a team and the ability to work collaboratively with partners inside and outside STEP.
- An eye for detail, including the ability to work comfortably with numbers, spreadsheets, CRM systems and budgets.
- Be confident and outgoing and at ease with presenting and delivering workshops.
