Their son, Struan Robb, joined the business straight from school and was later joined by Lorna Robb in 2007. The company had an ambitious growth strategy which included growing the existing business through developing new markets such as biomass and introducing new product ranges. As with many small businesses, the company partners were focused on the day to day running of the business and found it difficult to prioritise ‘time out’ to developing a strategy to support these goals.
How we helped
To help develop a business strategy, Fraser C Robb accessed a business consultant through the specialist support service funded by Business Gateway and the European Regional Development Fund.
The consultant initially met with the business partners to ascertain its current business activities and its challenges as well as future growth aspirations. These findings then formed the basis of a half day business strategy workshop which helped focus the business partners, ensuring there was clarity and agreement on both where the business was currently at and what future success would look like for Fraser C Robb.
Following completion, a report was issued by the consultant to reflect the discussions which subsequently was developed into the business strategy, ensuring the management team is focused and aligned with the overall organisational goals.
